The NFL Combine is a time when so much is at stake for future NFL hopefuls. Some exceed expectations while others crack under pressure. NFL scouts are looking for players who seem ready to take that next step, and unfortunately some players fail to display the strengths they showed throughout their collegiate careers. Here are 10 players whose stock dropped at the 2015 NFL Combine.

Flowers had an incredible bench press of 37 reps at 225 pounds. What a way to start off! He also had an impressive 40 time of 5.31 seconds. Unfortunately his footwork and natural quickness is a cause for concern. While I believe he will be drafted, he may fall to the third or fourth round. He has been described as a "labored mover" and still has a lot of work to do before he can be trusted to protect a QB.

9. Kenny Hilliard (RB LSU)

Hilliard lacks the burst that many NFL scouts look for in a potential high draft pick. This was demonstrated by his slow 4.83 time in the 40-yard dash. He didn't even reach 100 carries in a single season at LSU, meaning he would have to stand out in a big way at the Combine. Unfortunately he didn't.

8. Ty Montgomery (WR Stanford)

Unfortunately Ty Montgomery was less than impressive in day two of the Combine. He clocked in at only 4.55 and 4.58 in the 40, which was slower than expected. He also measured in at less than 6-foot, despite being listed as 6-foot-2 throughout his college career.

7. P.J. Williams (CB Florida State)

Williams was viewed as the top corner at FSU in 2014. Unfortunately, his 40-time was not very impressive, clocking in at 4.57 seconds. He also didn't look very comfortable with his turns and transitions in drills. He will need to make major improvements at pro day if he expects to be considered a first-round pick on Apr. 30.

6. Denzel Perryman (LB Miami)

Perryman already has a disadvantage at only 5-foot-10 and 3/4. That is not the height many scouts look for in an NFL linebacker. In addition to that, his drill work was unimpressive and he ran only a 4.78 second 40-yard dash. For a guy who lacks size, these other factors need to be great and they simply weren't.

Heading into the Combine, Funchess was viewed as one of the most athletic WR/TE prospects. Unfortunately, his 40-time didn't live up to expectations (4.70). This lack of explosiveness could be a red flag as a wide receiver, while his lack of strength could make it tough to be considered at the tight end position. There might not be a position he's exactly right for at the NFL level.

Thompson failed to put up impressive numbers at the Combine in both his 40-time and his vertical jump. He clocked in at only 4.64 seconds in the 40 and had a disappointing 33.5-inch vertical jump. These are not the numbers he needs to establish himself as an NFL-bound linebacker.

3. Ameer Abdullah (RB Nebraska)

While Abdullah recorded an impressive 42.5-inch reading in the vertical jump, his 40 time did him no favors, clocking in at 4.6 seconds. Straight-line speed is such an important factor, especially in such a crowded running back class, and Abdullah was unable to display that at the Combine.

2. Paul Dawson (LB TCU)

During the 2014 season at TCU, Dawson displayed great instincts and ability. Unfortunately, that athleticism was not apparent at the Combine on Sunday. He will definitely be feeling the pressure on Mar. 27 at pro day. It will be his chance to redeem himself a little heading into the draft.

Coates recorded a great 41-inch vertical jump and 10-foot, 9-inch broad jump, and he has great size for a WR as well. Unfortunately, he also confirmed the fact that he has rather inconsistent hands, looking a little uncomfortable in receiving drills.
