The top remaining defensive tackle on the market has finally found a home. After three days of rumors surrounding where he might land, former Denver Broncos lineman Terrance Knighton has signed with the Washington Redskins. According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, the deal is for one year and $4 million.

Just a one year contract for $4 million seems low for “Pot Roast” Knighton. After Ndamukong Suh, Knighton was widely regarded as the top free agent defensive tackle and was predicted to get a fairly lucrative multi-year deal. The Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks were other teams with rumored interest in the massive defensive tackle.
After spending four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Knighton revived his career the past two seasons in the middle of the Broncos front. He might not stuff the stat sheet, but Knighton does a brilliant job stuffing and clogging running lanes of opposing offenses.
In 2014, the Redskins defense was simply pathetic. They allowed the third-most points per game (27.6) in the league, and were the main reason for the team’s miserable 4-12 record. Considering the surprisingly small contract signed, the Redskins got an absolute steal in Knighton.
