The Indianapolis Colts went into their Week 10 bye on a high, with a win over the previously undefeated Denver Broncos at home on Sunday. But things turned the other way on Tuesday, with news that quarterback Andrew Luck will be out 2-6 weeks with a lacerated kidney and a partial tear of an abdominal muscle.
And the adversity doesn’t stop for the Colts. Andrew Luck out two-to-six weeks due to a kidney laceration.

Luck apparently suffered the injuries early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, with an awkward hit at the end of a run, but he did not miss a snap and he will not require surgery. Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said it’s “too early to guess” how long Luck will be out, but the high end of the reported timeline would be a Week 16 return for a road game against the Miami Dolphins.
When Luck was out earlier this season with a shoulder injury, Matt Hasselbeck was 2-0 as a starter and he’s a capable backup that can keep the Colts rolling with Luck sidelined this time around.
The Colts lead a lackluster AFC South with a 4-5 record, and they have a win over each of the other three teams in the division already in their pocket. 7-9 might be enough to win the AFC South this year, so it’s not panic time for the Colts even without their star quarterback.
