5 Questions the Indianapolis Colts Need to Answer This Offseason
Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports
The Indianapolis Colts finished the 2015 regular season with an 8-8 record. However, the team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011. As a result, the Colts have a couple of questions they need to address this offseason.
5. Should the Colts Keep Head Coach Chuck Pagano?

This is a tough call. The fact that Pagano inked out an 8-8 record during this injury-filled season is quite remarkable. However, Pagano has not taken the Colts’ defense to the next level, which is why he was hired in 2012. Each season, the defense has been ranked in the lower-third of the NFL in many defensive categories. Colts owner Jim Irsay will make his decision on Pagano's future really quickly.
4. Should the Colts Fire General Manager Ryan Grigson?

Firing Grigson seems to be a popular opinion among most Colts fans, and they have good reasons for wanting Pagano gone. After a solid 2012 NFL Draft class, Grigson has missed on too many draft picks to keep his job, and he has not been great at signing quality free agents. Too many of the Colts’ problems stem back to moves Grigson made. Irsay has not said much about firing Grigson, but he is definitely considering making the move.
3. How Will the Colts Handle Andrew Luck’s Contract Situation?

Andrew Luck’s injury-filled 2015 season should not affect his contract negotiations this offseason. Colts owner Jim Irsay made it very clear they are going to sign Andrew Luck at all costs, which means a lucrative contract is coming Luck's way some time this offseason. Luck seems pretty committed to the Colts, and the Colts are committed to him. Contract negotiations could have some bumps in the road, but both sides will get it done.
2. What is the Biggest Defensive Weakness the Colts Need to Fix?

The Colts need to fix their pass defense, and they can do this by upgrading two positions. The Colts could either improve their pass rushing unit or their cornerback position. Ideally, the Colts would like to address both weaknesses, but they should focus on the pass rushing group. The Colts are not generating enough pressure to force opposing quarterbacks into mistakes. An upgrade in this area could help this defense as a whole immediately.

This is pretty obvious. The Colts' biggest offensive weakness is the offensive line. They have never had a solid offensive line since Andrew Luck joined the team in 2012. This flaw finally bit the Colts this season because Luck missed nine games due to numerous injuries. The Colts need to protect their franchise quarterback better by investing more time and money into identifying and signing quality offensive linemen.
