Here are five reasons why the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t make it to, much less win, the Super Bowl.

5. A Revenge-Minded Broncos Team Awaits Them

If the Pittsburgh Steelers manage to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend, then their lives won't get any easier against the Denver Broncos. Denver will be looking to avenge their 34-27 loss to the Steelers in the regular season and they'll be more than ready for the challenge. The superior defense, which belongs to Denver, would win that rematch.

4. Questionable RB Effectiveness

The absence of DeAngelo Williams from Pittsburgh's wild card matchup this weekend is a huge setback. The Steelers will now need to rely on Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman to handle the RB duties. This is far from ideal especially since the Bengals are ranked seventh against RBs in terms of yardage allowed.

3. Inferior Pass Defense

Although they boast the fifth-best run defense in the league in terms of yardage allowed, the same can't be said for their pass defense. Their defensive secondary is horrendous and their rank of 30th in that regard is the proof. I don't expect them to stop elite WR A.J. Green this weekend, and that could lead to an early playoff exit.

2. Roethlisberger Threw the Third-Most INTs This Season

For as much as everyone talks about Pittsburgh's prolific air attack, it seems that they forget that Ben Roethlisberger was also prolific with INTs. He threw the third-most INTs this season with 16 of them. This is not good when facing a Bengals defense that has the third-most INTs this season. If Pittsburgh defeats them, then a better defense awaits in the Denver Broncos.

1. Defense Wins Championships and Pittsburgh Lacks Defense

Since 1977, there have been six Super Bowl champions that had a defense ranked outside of the top 10. Out of those six, two teams had a defense that was ranked in the top 15. This goes to show that "defense wins championships" is not just a cliché. Pittsburgh is ranked 21st in total yardage defense and it doesn't bode well for their Super Bowl dreams.
