Going into free agency this March, the Chicago Bears will have 18 unrestricted free agents. Many of these players had huge roles during the Bears’ 2015 season, but there are some who could be an even bigger part for Chicago in 2016. Here are the top unrestricted free agents the Bears should re-sign this offseason.

5. Tracy Porter

The Bears finished the 2015 season having the fourth-best pass defense in the NFL, and cornerback Tracy Porter played a big part in that. Porter was often matched up against the opposing team’s best receiver, and held his own for the most part. Porter’s 12 passes defensed tied a career-high, and he was one of the most consistent players on the defensive side of the ball. A one-year contract might be suitable for the soon-to-be 30-year-old.

In Chicago’s first year of running a 3-4 defensive scheme, defensive end Jarvis Jenkins was the most consistent player along the D-line. Jenkins finished the season with the second-most sacks among Bears defensive linemen (four), and led all D-linemen with 32 tackles. Jenkins could be an anchor for the Bears’ defensive front next season.

3. Zach Miller

With the possibility of Martellus Bennett still being traded, it would be very wise for the Bears to re-sign Zach Miller. After a couple of injury-plagued seasons, Miller bounced back and became a huge target in the passing game, leading the Bears with five touchdown receptions. Assuming he stays healthy, Miller could be one of Jay Cutler’s go-to guys in 2016.

2. Matt Forte

As a 30-year-old running back, and having a promising second-year ball carrier on the roster, Matt Forte’s chances of getting re-signed are slim. Regardless of these circumstances, keeping one of the best all-around backs will only make Chicago’s offense a tough force to deal with. If the Bears’ front office can come to a common ground with Forte, they can possibly get a couple more productive seasons out of the two-time Pro Bowler.

1. Alshon Jeffery

Despite missing seven games this season due to injury, Alshon Jeffery was still the Bears’ most productive receiver. Jeffery finished the year with 54 receptions for 807 yards and four touchdowns. In 2015, general manager Ryan Pace drafted Kevin White to pair up with Jeffery in the passing game, but White’s season-ending injury prevented that from happening. I’m sure Pace will do whatever is possible to put this duo on the field in 2016.
