One year ago, Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry was diagnosed with lymphoma and his whole world was turned upside down. Instead of taking it as a death sentence, Berry started chemotherapy almost immediately and was able to get himself in shape to play the 2015 NFL Season.
As if coming back that quickly wasn’t impressive enough, Berry helped lead the Chiefs on a 10-game winning streak to end the season and clinch a spot in the playoffs. He racked up 61 tackles and two interceptions and on Friday, earned first-team All-Pro honors for his amazing accomplishments.
“It’s an incredible honor. It means a lot to me,” said Berry, per the Associated Press. “Football’s a team game, so I have to give credit to those guys around me as well. We’ve been hungry from the get-go. I don’t know how to explain it, but I think you see it throughout our play. I think our play speaks for itself.”
Berry and the Chiefs have a big wild card matchup with the Houston Texans on Saturday and everyone can count on inspired play from the 27-year-old All-Pro.
