5 Most Disappointing Cincinnati Bengals Players In 2015

The Cincinnati Bengals cost themselves a shot at advancing to the AFC Divisional Round by committing two boneheaded personal foul penalties that allowed the Pittsburgh Steelers to move into field goal range for the game-winning kick. With their season now over, it’s time to reflect on the Bengals’ season as a whole and evaluate which five players had the most disappointing seasons in 2015.

5. OT Andre Smith

Smith is a free agent following the season, and there's zero chance the Bengals will bring him back after the poor year he had. He was repeatedly beaten by quicker defensive ends as it looks to me that his weight is causing problems. With Jake Fisher and Cedric Ogbuehi waiting in the wings, Smith has likely eaten his way out of Cincinnati.

4. CB Dre Kirkpatrick

Kirkpatrick was selected No. 17 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft with the expectations that he would be a shutdown corner for the Bengals. Instead, he was graded as the third-worst corner in the entire league in 2015 by ProFootballFocus.

3. DE Michael Johnson

Johnson re-signed with the Bengals last offseason after spending one season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The hope was that he would be able to provide pressure opposite of Carlos Dunlap, but the seven-year pro was only able to record five sacks.

2. RB Jeremy Hill

After a breakout rookie season that saw him gain 1,124 yards on 222 carries and nine touchdowns, Hill received 223 carries in 2015 but only produced 794 yards. He looked like a completely different player, averaging just 3.6 yards per carry, and his fumble last week led to the Steelers' game-winning drive.

1. LB Vontaze Burfict

There's no forgiving Burfict for his role in the Bengals losing last week. He's a tremendous linebacker, but he has no clue how to control his emotions and this isn't the first time that he's attempted to injure a player on purpose. The three-game suspension handed down by the league is nothing but a slap on the wrist for this punk.
