Cleveland Browns Agree To Deal With Hue Jackson To Become Next Head Coach

The Cleveland Browns have convinced the hottest coordinator on the market to become their next head coach as Hue Jackson will leave his post as Cincinnati Bengals‘ offensive coordinator to become the head man in Cleveland. Jackson will team up with new front office hires Paul DePodesta and Sashi Brown to form a roster based on analytics.

This will be Jackson’s second chance as a head coach following a one-year stint with the Oakland Raiders in 2011. During that season, Jackson led the Raiders to an 8-8 record before being fired.

After leaving the Raiders, Jackson caught on with the Bengals in 2012 as the team’s secondary and assistant special teams coach before being reassigned to coach the running backs in 2013 and spending the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator. During his two years as offensive coordinator, the Bengals’ offense finished ranked No. 15 in total offense in both seasons.

For the Browns, Jackson is a tremendous hire as he also had interest from the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants. In fact, there were reports that the 49ers were slow-playing Jackson as they weren’t convinced that he was seriously interested in the Browns’ top job. Turns out it’s just another error in judgment by the clueless 49ers front office.
