Brandon LaFell And The Most Disappointing New England Patriots Of 2015

Despite falling a little short of a second straight Super Bowl appearance on Sunday, the season was a solid success for the New England Patriots.

However, here are the five most disappointing Patriots from the 2015 season.

5. TE Scott Chandler

Chandler barely played down the stretch for the Patriots this season when it sure seemed like the team could have used him as another viable weapon. That could be a question of coaching and game planning, but even without big expectations Chandler underachieved this season.

4. RB Brandon Bolden

LeGarrette Blount's season-ending hip injury theoretically gave Bolden a chance at a bigger role, but Steven Jackson was signed soon after and that never materialized. Next season could provide a new opportunity for Bolden to earn a substantial offensive role, but the coaching staff would have to move him off special teams.

3. WR Aaron Dobson

An ankle injury ended Dobson's season in late November, but he still only had 14 receptions in eight games played. A promising rookie season in 2013, with 37 catches for 519 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games, has given way to Dobson probably having to battle for a roster spot in New England.

2. LB Jerod Mayo

Mayo played all 16 regular season games for the first time since 2012, but Pro Football Focus graded him very poorly this year and a shoulder injury in the Divisional Round sidelined him for the conference title game. Approaching 30 years old (Feb. 23), the Patriots can save at least $7 million in salary cap space by cutting Mayo.

1. WR Brandon LaFell

After setting career-highs with 74 catches and 953 yards in 2014, a foot injury delayed LaFell's 2015 debut and he was not particularly productive in 11 regular season games (37 receptions for 515 yards). After effectively being benched during the AFC Championship Game, LaFell's future in New England is up in the air.
