Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is enjoying the best season of his career, as he’s led his team to a 17-1 record and an appearance in Super Bowl 50, in addition to being the odds-on favorite for the NFL MVP Award. Instead of celebrating Newton’s brilliance, a large chunk of fans and media pundits have grown to hate Newton because his joy is being misconstrued as cockiness. If you’re one of the haters, here are five reasons why you’re wrong.

One of the biggest gripes that haters have about Newton is that he doesn't set a good example for children. This is one that baffles me. So a guy who has a blast entertaining, gives back to his community and tries to put a smile on every child's face isn't a role model because he dabs? That makes zero sense.

Newton's foundation centers around his work with children, as he loves kids and will do anything to see them happy, including renting an ice cream truck to bring to a child's block party among many other examples.

There is no set standard for the way a player should act, and Newton's certainly not the only player in the NFL to celebrate a first down or touchdown.
