T.Y. Hilton and the Best Indianapolis Colts of 2015

The Indianapolis Colts struggled for much of the 2015 season because of injuries and multiple distractions from within the organization. Despite the season not going the way the Colts had hoped it would, some of their players still put together solid individual campaigns. Here are the five best Colts of the 2015.

5. DT Kendall Langford

After being simply a three-year rotation player with the St. Louis Rams, it was hard to predict what Langford could give the Colts in 2015. Fortunately, Langford established himself as the Colts’ top defensive tackle this season. He earned 38 combined tackles and seven sacks. More importantly, he gave the Colts’ young, inexperienced defensive linemen someone they could emulate. As a result, the Colts’ defensive line unit looks promising moving forward.

4. S Mike Adams

For the second straight season, Adams established himself as the Colts’ top defensive back alongside cornerback Vontae Davis. He led the team with five interceptions and finished fourth on the team in combined tackles with 75. While the Colts’ defense was nothing to marvel over, Adams prevented the unit from falling apart completely. It was certainly surprising Adams was 34 years old entering the 2015 season.

3. ILB Jerrell Freeman

Although Freeman missed three games, he still had his finest season with the Colts in 2015. He finished second on the team in total tackles with 112 and three sacks. Freeman was more aggressive this season on run plays. He noticeably attacked running backs inside run lanes, which helped the Colts’ defense limit the ability of their opponents to run the football. This was a contract year for Freeman, and his play in 2015 certainly helped his case for a favorable contract.

2. ILB D'Qwell Jackson

At age 32, Jackson should no signs of slowing down in 2015 and lead the Colts in total tackles for the second straight season. Jackson continuously found ball carriers on run plays and did just enough to put himself in position to tackle receivers on passing plays. Jackson was once again amongst the league’s leading tacklers this season. He finished the season in combined tackles with 150, which was second to NaVorro Bowman who had 154.

1. WR T.Y. Hilton

Andrew Luck missed nine games this season, and receiver T.Y. Hilton still put together a solid season. Hilton received a large contract extension in the offseason and rewarded the Colts for their confidence in him. Hilton accumulated 69 receptions for 1,124 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Hilton’s production does not depend on Luck’s success, and he proved this fact this season as one of the few offensive players not significantly affected by Luck’s absence.
