The Carolina Panthers have had one of the best seasons in recent years, and will look to cap it off with a Super Bowl win. Among the many bright spots, one Panthers player who has really taken his game to the next level is Josh Norman, and the organization cannot afford to lose him this offseason.
The Panthers have a lot of talent on defense, and a lot of credit deservedly goes to Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis. That said, Norman has joined those guys as stars on the defense and has become one of the best lockdown corners in the game.
The team will often have Norman follow the best opposing receivers, and he had a lot of success early in the season. He has four interceptions, and has returned two for touchdowns, which has forced quarterbacks to stop throwing his direction. He has matched up against some of the best of the game and more than held his own. This ability to take away top threats is huge for the defense, especially with the amount of talent that the team has at other positions.
The Panthers should have enough cap space to re-sign Norman even though it will certainly take a lot to keep him. He deserves it after the season he had, and he is part of what makes this defense elite.
