Rumors are swirling around Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and his future. It began when Manning reportedly told Bill Belichick that “this might be my last rodeo” following the AFC Championship Game. Then reports surfaced that he had told some of his friends that Super Bowl 50 would indeed be his last game, but at media day on Monday, he said he wasn’t sure what his plans were.
If Manning were to return for one more season, the Los Angeles Rams would be one of the teams interested in his services according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. Although Manning is under contract for one more season with the Broncos, it’s unlikely that the team will bring him back which would make him a free agent if he decides to return.
The Rams had an abysmal season at the quarterback position in 2015 after trading for Nick Foles. Head coach Jeff Fisher stated that Case Keenum would be the team’s starting quarterback heading into the offseason, but Foles and Sean Mannion would be there to compete. With the move to Los Angeles, the Rams would like to make a splash, and having Manning take the first snap under center in their inaugural year would certainly do that.
