5 Players Who Will Be Overpaid In 2016 NFL Free Agency

The NFL free agency fiasco is upon us for this year, with reports of trades and new contracts that will become official on Wednesday. Here are five players who will be overpaid by their new teams in free agency this offseason.

5. DE Mario Williams

Williams had a bad 2015 season, with just five sacks, so the Buffalo Bills did the inevitable and cut him. He may have plenty left in the tank at 31 years old, and a better scheme fit should be easy to find, but the premium placed on pass rushers guarantees Williams will be overpaid.

4. QB Brock Osweiler

Osweiler's solid run last season in his first significant action seems to be creating a bidding war between the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. You can't blame a guy for cashing in when he can, but Osweiler could soon be mentioned alongside Scott Mitchell and Rob Johnson among quarterbacks who got a big contract off a small sample size.

3. DE Malik Jackson

Jackson had a good season with the Denver Broncos in 2015, with a career high in tackles and a very good grade from Pro Football Focus (16th-best among qualified interior defensive linemen). His reported new deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars is sure to come with the expectation he will be a star, but I don't think Jackson can live up to it.

2. WR Jermaine Kearse

On the heels of setting career highs in catches (49), yards (685) and touchdowns (five) last season, a thin wide receiver class has boosted Kearse's free agent value. He already said he expects to hit the open market, and Kearse is in line to be paid like a No. 1 or No. 2 wide receiver without the resume to back it up.

1. RB Doug Martin

Martin rebounded nicely last season with 1,402 rushing yards (second in the league) in the final year of his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has reported "up to six teams" have interest in Martin, so even with the decreased value of running backs he's in line for a bloated contract.

Marshawn Lynch Wanted to Be Traded to the Packers

In 2010 Marshawn Lynch was the leading rusher for a Bills team that would finish 4-12 and he was placed on the trading block. During a game against the Green Bay Packers he let two members of that franchise—tight end Jermichael Finley and quarterback Aaron Rodgers—know where he wanted to go. "We were running off the field—it was halftime" said Finley on the Two Deep NFL Podcast on Monday. "Me and Rodgers were running to the locker room and Lynch came and hit us on the shoulder and was like 'Tell (Packers GM) Ted Thompson to come get me.'"

Antonio Brown Says He Couldn’t Stop Getting Boner Training for ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has kept busy this offseason as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. The grueling training that comes with Dancing with the Stars often involves intimate touching with very attractive dancers.
