The Cincinnati Bengals made a huge move to further strengthen their already solid defense.
The team announced that they had agreed to terms with veteran linebacker Karlos Dansby. The team had a need at the linebacker position, and Dansby was arguably one of the best defenders left on the market. It is safe to say that the Bengals will benefit from signing Dansby and he will be an upgrade for the team.

Dansby has spent the last two years of his career with the Cleveland Browns, and he has been great during his time with the team. A really good all-around player, Dansby made his presence felt in run support but was even better in the passing game. However, the Browns decided to let Dansby go this offseason because they had no use for him. After all, he is a 34-year-old linebacker who only has another season or two left in the tank and the Browns are in another rebuilding process.
With the Bengals, Dansby stands a chance of making it back to the playoffs. His excellent coverage skills will make him a huge asset for the Bengals, and he will almost certainly be their top coverage linebacker during the season. He probably will be able to take over for A.J. Hawk, who was a below average starter for the team last season, and he will help replace the now departed Emmanuel Lamur.
The Bengals likely got a cheap deal with Dansby, too. As mentioned earlier, he is 34 years old, so he is not going to be around long-term. Dansby probably just wants a chance to compete for a title and he should have a chance at doing that with the Bengals. Besides, the AFC is not exactly filled with good quarterbacks at the moment. If Andy Dalton can stay healthy, he will finally be able to win a playoff game for the team. Dansby will be glad to be on a team with a winning culture again and this deal will almost certainly be mutually beneficial.
