In a development that is not surprising, Pro Football Talk recently reported the Los Angeles Rams are expected to “move on” from quarterback Nick Foles before the start of the 2016 season. With Case Keenum being named the starter, and a rookie likely to be coming via the draft, Foles has looked like the odd man out in the Rams’ quarterback mix since free agency started.
Whether by trade, or signing after he’s released, here are five possible landing spots for Foles.
5. Washington Redskins

In March, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network mentioned the Redskins as a team that could have interest in Foles. Kirk Cousins is in place atop the depth chart, but a competition between Foles and Colt McCoy for the backup job would be reasonable.
4. Oakland Raiders

Derek Carr is locked in as the Raiders' starting quarterback, but they have Matt McGloin and Garrett Gilbert behind him right now. Foles might not be a great talent upgrade, but he can provide a backup with a fair amount of starting experience.

Matthew Stafford isn't going anywhere as Detroit's starter for a while, but Dan Orlovsky has stuck around as his backup for too long. It's clearly faint praise, but Foles would be an upgrade.

The Broncos are being attached to every available quarterback, and with trade talks for Colin Kaepernick in limbo, they could turn to Foles as a cheaper option.
1. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers' quarterback situation is unsettled, and if they wind up keeping Kaepernick, interest in another veteran would be unlikely. But Foles had the best season of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 under new 49ers' head coach Chip Kelly, and that familiarity could foster a fit.
