Marshawn Lynch Is Spending Retirement Building A School In Haiti

By Jason Fletcher

Many professional athletes struggle with retirement. If you think about it, it makes sense. They’ve spent their entire careers working out, practicing, studying playbooks and trying to become the best athlete in the world, and there isn’t a whole lot of time for anything else. Once a player retires, it’s like their whole life is completely gone.

Tiki Barber once described retirement this way: “You’ve been replaced on the field and you’ve been replaced in people’s minds. That’s when you start getting depressed.”

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is in his first offseason following his retirement at 29 years old. Back in March, Lynch took a trip to Egypt with Cleveland Browns tight end Gary Barnidge and he rode a camel.

Now Lynch is in Haiti with former Seahawks teammate Cliff Avril, Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch and the Cliff Avril Foundation helping to build a school. For a guy who hasn’t touched any of the $50 million that he made during his career, Lynch sure seems to have his priorities in order.

Nice work, guys.
