Sammy Watkins was outspoken last season when he wasn’t getting the ball enough as the team struggled down the stretch. That fact makes his decision to skip voluntary workouts with his Buffalo Bills teammates to go to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino in North Carolina all the more puzzling.
Watkins posted this to his Facebook page:
The No. 4 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft was in Greenville, S.C. for a football camp with his former Clemson teammate Tajh Boyd on Sunday, but the fact that he didn’t make it back for his professional obligations turns the mirror the other way on his hypocrisy.
Just last season, Watkins was calling out his teammates and in danger of being categorized as a diva for his behavior. This instance of putting some frivolous gambling trip ahead of his work certainly turns his criticism of others on its head.
