Ohio State‘s Ezekiel Elliott is the top running back in the 2016 NFL Draft, and he’s looking like a top-10 pick. The Dallas Cowboys could remove all drama by taking Elliott at No. 4, but another team with a high pick is getting trade interest from teams behind them in the first round.
Trade spot to watch: #Browns at No. 8. They’ve been having discussions with teams behind them who would want to come up for Ezekiel Elliott

Elliott could appeal to the Cleveland Browns, with the local angle and their need for a marquee offensive player. The team most obviously in pursuit of a trade up to get Elliott would have to be the Miami Dolphins, who have the No. 13 overall pick and a need at running back. It’s worth noting the Dolphins originally held the No. 8 overall pick before a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles early in the offseason.
Two other teams that could trade up for Elliott are the New York Giants (No. 10 overall) and the Chicago Bears (No. 11 overall). Elliott did tell the Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday that the Bears are in love with him, for what that’s worth, and as they look to replace Matt Forte with a younger, comparable version there’s a fit in Chicago.
Elliott looks like a legitimate three-down back and an immediate contributor in the NFL, so heavy interest in him is well-founded. A strong case can be made for the Browns to stay where they are and take him, but if Elliott gets past Dallas on Thursday night his ultimate landing spot will become great fodder for speculation.
