Round 1, Pick 19: DE Shaq Lawson

The Bills really needed to add a pass rusher in the wake of Mario Williams’ departure. Lawson could have been a top 10 pick if it was not for a lingering shoulder issue. The team was smart to land him with the 19th overall pick.

Round 2, Pick 10: LB Reggie Ragland

The Bills were considering Ragland in the first round, so they traded up to get him here. Ragland will be a perfect fit in Rex Ryan’s defense, and he should be a major upgrade for the middle of their defense.

Round 3, Pick 17: DT Adolphus Washington

Although he did not perform well at the Combine, Washington still has a lot of potential as an interior rusher at the next level. He will be the successor to Kyle Williams for the team and should be able to develop well under Ryan.

Round 4, Pick 41: QB Cardale Jones

EJ Manuel is not going to cut it as a backup to Tyrod Taylor for a second season. Jones is a poor man’s Cam Newton who could have been a first-round pick had he performed better during his final season at Ohio State.

Round 5, Pick 18: RB Jonathan Williams

Williams is a talented runner, but the Bills were already stacked at the position with LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams and Mike Gillislee. Still, Jonathan Williams should make the roster and may be a quality backup for the team.

Round 6, Pick 17: WR Kolby Listenbee

The Bills needed to add a receiver and Listenbee is a very fast one. If he can develop into a burner, he’ll be a good backup for the Bills. He has more potential than Marquise Goodwin and may win the No. 4 receiver job.

Round 6, Pick 34: DB Kevon Seymour

This was just a best player available pick. The Bills are already stacked at the corner position, so Seymour may be hard pressed to see any playing time. Still, landing a decent prospect like him in the sixth round was a fine move.
