Of the teams vying for Tony Romo this offseason, the Houston Texans were arguably the most desperate.
And now that Romo is officially in the booth at CBS, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien has reportedly shifted his focus to a new target under center – Patrick Mahomes.
After shipping off Brock Osweiler earlier this offseason, the Texans have Tom Savage as their starter heading into the draft.
For a team with a scary-good defense and some promising pieces all in their primes, it would make sense to find a signal-caller with more upside.
Mahomes certainly offers that, but whether or not he’ll be available when the Texans are on the clock at pick No. 25 overall remains to be seen.
