The ESPY Awards are generally a time to reflect on all that’s good about sports, but Seattle Seahawks outspoken cornerback Richard Sherman let loose about a potential NFL players strike when interviewed on the red carpet.
Sherman all but called for the players to strike when discussing the proposition of wage fairness.
By citing the NBA and MLB labor agreements, Sherman makes a fair point regarding guaranteed money in contracts and just how artificial the overall numbers are in most NFL deals.
But everyone gets nervous when the word strike is thrown around, so it’s natural to get uneasy with a guy almost asking for fellow players to prepare for a labor stoppage.
It will be interesting to see what actually transpires between now and 2020 when the current CBA expires.
