The Ottawa Senators released their 2012/2013 regular season schedule today, and it’s just four short months until they get it going once again.
The Ottawa Senators will open their season on October 11 when they take on their division rival the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre on opening night.
The Ole-ole-ole chants won’t be heard in Scotiabank Place until December 18 when the Habs invade Senators territory.
Ottawa will get it’s first look at the latest edition of the club October 13 when Alex Ovechkin and his Washington Capitals come to town for the Senators home opener.
The Battle of Ontario will get back in full swing on October 20 when the Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs get their first cracks at one another.
Curiously, the Leafs won’t show their ugly mugs in Ottawa until after Christmas when all Ottawa based Leaf fans hope they will have the opportunity to rain disrespectful boos down on Daniel Alfredsson in his 17 season.
The Senators schedule includes several afternoon tilts; the first coming October 28 with a rematch against Ottawa’s most recent playoff opponents, the New York Rangers.
In all Ottawa will play a total of 12 afternoon games including back-to-back matinees against the Pittsburgh Penguinsand the Habs early in February.
The recently crowned Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings will make their only appearance in Ottawa on December 15.
Ottawa’s two busiest months of the season will be December and March when the club will play 14 games in each month, and begin each on a gruelling five game road trip.
The December trip will be highlighted by a swing through Western Canada.
The Ottawa Senators will wrap up the season at home against the Winnipeg Jets on April 13.
