The Rochester Americans hit the ice for their first preseason game tonight against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Penguins in Rochester, New York.
With only two preseason games before the season opener on October 12, the Amerks will likely place a lineup on the ice tonight that will closely resemble that of the season opener. According to Kevin Oklobzija who covers the Amerks for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the lineup for tonight’s game will be as follows:
Marcus Foligno – Kevin Porter – Mark Mancari
Zemgus Girgensons – Phil Varone – Evan Rankin
Luke Adam – Cody Hodgson – Corey Tropp
Nick Tarnasky – Rick Schofield – Maxime Legault
DEFENSEMAN
Brayden McNabb – Mark Pysyk
TJ Brennan – Alex Biega
Joe Finley – Matt McKenzie
GOALTENDERS
David Leggio and Connor Knapp
There are not many surprises in the lineup, although the lack of inclusion of Kevin Sundher, Brian Flynn and Jarome Gauthier-Leduc may be talked about in the coming days. This is also just a preseason game and coach Ron Rolston may still be wanting to look at a few guys to finalize his lineup, so while mostly as it will be come October 12, this lineup may still change.
The game starts at 7:05.

With the NHL season on hold, I will be following the Amerks in the interim. The focus will be on the players we all hope to see in a Sabres uniform very soon, highlighting their performance for the Amerks.
I will also be tracking the Sabres playing overseas as much as possible, as well as the team’s top prospects like Joel Armia, Mikhail Grigorenko and Jake McCabe playing in the CHL or NCAA.
As I will when the season starts for the Sabres, I will be tweeting about this coverage. Follow me at @SwordPlay18 to keep up.
