It got a little physical during the Boston Bruins‘ practice today. Two of the teams young stars, Brad Marchand and Torey Krug, wrestled each other into the corner after battling for a loose puck. After being separated quickly by their teammates, the two laughed off the tense moment.
Bruins head coach Claude Julien suggested that it was essentially just in the heat of the moment. Nobody made a big deal out of the situation, but it was highly reported on as some of the Bruins’ top news of the day.
This news can be taken in one of two ways:
1. The Bruins’ season has been such a disaster so far, that now even the players have a bone to pick with each other. The losing has separated the group and pushed them apart; even Tuukka Rask was trying to point fingers the other night after yet another loss for the Bruins. The Bruins’ teams of the past few years have all been a tight-knit group, so the team fighting amongst each signals that they just aren’t meshing together.
2. The team is finally showing some sign of life. After 40 games of underachieving and frustration, it’s good to see a sign that maybe the Bruins do still care after all. Maybe this will be one of the sparks that wakes them up. The team is on the outside of the playoff picture right now, and the fanbase is desperate to see that this team actually wants to win. Nothing speaks louder than a nice little scrap between teammates over a silly little drill, right?
Boston has lost three consecutive games in overtime. Tomorrow night they face off against one of the top teams in the conference, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and they’ll need to give their best effort.
