5 Players the New York Rangers Should Trade Right Now

The 1993-94 season was the last time the New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup and the last time they made it to the finals was the 2013-14 campaign. There has always been pressure on New York sports teams, and the Rangers organization is no different. The Eastern Conference is very competitive, and the Rangers should consider dealing these five men if they have aspirations of being successful.

The 39-year-old defenseman has had a great career. Boyle is in the middle of his 18th campaign and second with the Blueshirts. There have been rumors that this might be his final NHL season. The Rangers probably won't get a lot back in return, but they could probably get a draft pick back for the aging blue-liner.

4. Viktor Stalberg

Stalberg has only missed two games this season and has six points. The former Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick has not finished any higher than 43 points during the 2011-12 season with the Chicago Blackhawks. The lights appear to be too bright for Stalberg in New York, and he could definitely use an address change.

3. Derick Brassard

Brassard has 130 points in 194 regular season games for the Rangers team. He has 14 points thus far and is definitely a bright spot on the roster. He has consistently been in the lineup and is the team's second highest scorer. Brassard finished with 60 points last year, and the Rangers could use his hot start as a selling point.

2. Derek Stepan

This is not to suggest that Stepan 'should' be dealt. However, if the Rangers want a significant upgrade, they have to be willing to part with top talent. Stepan has been a great secondary scorer and could be a solid trade chip for a proven scoring forward or quality defenseman on the blue line.

1. Oscar Lindberg

Just like with Derek Stepan, the 24-year-old rookie Lindberg has been turning some heads. He has seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 20 games. The Rangers might be able to flip Lindberg if a superstar becomes available before the February 29 NHL trade deadline.
