The feeling around the Kris Letang injury had been positive for the Pittsburgh Penguins since it occurred on Feb. 21, but the initial prognosis turned out to be wishful thinking.
Now the current holders of the Stanley Cup will have to defend their title against the NHL‘s best without their top defenseman.
Letang will undergo surgery to repair the herniated disc in his neck soon and faces a timetable of 4-6 months for recovery.
Though that would have him back in time for the beginning of next season, it’s a real bummer for Tanger and the team that he won’t be out their to help the Pens try and retain the Cup.
