The rout was on early in Game 3 for the Ottawa Senators, as their first home game in the series against the Pittsburgh Penguins brought a new energy that was truly insurmountable.
And it certainly didn’t hurt that Marc-Andre Fleury was feeling generous, as the Pens’ red-hot goalie thus far through the Stanley Cup Playoffs was way off his game in this one.
Goal. Goal. Another goal. Oh wow another goal. Great first for the @senators. #StanleyCup
Coming into this one, critics claimed that the Sens would have trouble scoring enough goals to keep up with Pittsburgh if their offensive firepower ever showed up.
Well, it seems like that narrative was turned on its head from the start on Wednesday night, as Ottawa was clearly the aggressor in chasing Fleury to the bench.
It will be interesting to see how long of a leash the Penguins have with Fleury after last year’s Stanley Cup-winning goalie, Matt Murray, returned to action and looked good in Game 3.
