There’s something to be said about belief going a long way when the Stanley Cup Playoffs roll around, and there’s no doubt that the Ottawa Senators believe in goaltender Craig Anderson.
Despite being pulled from Sunday’s Game 5 after allowing four first-period goals, Anderson came out and slammed the door on the Pittsburgh Penguins 45 times on 46 shots in a win-or-go-home Game 6.
Saves like this one were common for Anderson on Tuesday night, as the only goal he surrendered came on a power move by Evgeni Malkin that was just too good to be stopped.
And in the closing moments, he wasn’t about to let the lamp be lit.
Ottawa has Anderson to credit for their playoff run to this point, but if the improbable push extends beyond Game 7 in Pittsburgh, he’s looking like a legit Conn Smythe candidate.
