Breaking News: Coco Crisp To Re-sign With The Oakland Athletics
The Oakland Athletics have had a busy offseason as their entire starting outfield became free agents at the end of this past season and the A’s also have made a number of trades involving All-Star pitchers Trevor Cahill, Gio Gonzalez, and Andrew Bailey. Yet, today Buster Olney of ESPN is reporting that free agent Coco Crisp will re-sign with the A’s for two years and a team option for a third though not likely to be officially announced until Thursday. With his signing that means the team at least keeps one starting outfielder from the 2011 season.
Crisp led the American League in stolen bases with 49 and in two seasons with the A’s he has hit .269 with 16 home runs, 92 rbi, 41 doubles, nine triples, 81 stolen bases, a obp of .324, a slugging percentage of .400 and a OPS of .724. He also gives the A’s an excellent one-two punch at the top of the order with Jemile Weeks.
In the outfield he’ll be joined with Michael Taylor and Josh Reddick who came over from the Boston Red Sox in the Bailey trade.
