Mike Tedesco-US PRESSWIRE

The Oakland Raiders acquired former 1st-round pick Aaron Curry from the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.

Curry was the fourth overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Wake Forest. He was named first-team All-ACC and  first-team All-American in 2008. Oh by the way, he also won the Butkus Award for the nation’s top linebacker.

The Raiders traded away two draft picks to land Curry, a 2012 seventh-rounder and 2013 conditional mid-rounder. If Curry can resurrect his career in Oakland, this will prove to be a bargain-deal for the Silver and Black.

Curry will prove to be an upgrade at the outside-linebacker position for the Raiders. The 25-year-old is a much stronger coverage linebacker than Quentin Groves, who is predominantly a pass-rushing and run-stopping outside-linebacker, and he can also stop the run with his opposing size and speed.

I expect Curry to be an impact player for the Raiders defense. Keep an eye out for him this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
