BBC Makes Mistake and Broadcasts The Same Match on Two Different Channels

BBC’s decision to show a single tennis match on both its terrestrial channels inconvenienced Wimbledon fans thus accidentally missing the start of Novak Djokovic’s game. The opening six games between Djokovic and Jacob Fearnley did not feature in BBC One and Two live coverage as they focused on the all British match involving Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart.

This broadcast overlap lasted about five minutes after the regional news bulletin, during which both channels aired the Boulter-Dart contest at once. Following this, the arrangement was changed so that Boulter’s matches were carried by BBC One while those of Djokovic were shown on BBC Two. However some people did not buy into that idea.

Immediate responses were posted through various social media platforms with many viewers showing their dissatisfaction. By the time Djokovic’s match started on BBC Two, the players had evened out at 3-3 in the first set.
