PAC 12 First Round Tournament Preview
By Adam McGill
The PAC 12 Tournament is finally here, and as usual there are many tournament hopes on the line. This is looking to be one of the more competitive conference tournaments in years and like every year there will be a couple upsets. Below is my preview for the first round of the PAC 12 Tournament:
Game 1: Oregon St. – Washington St. 3:00 PM ET
Player to Watch: F Brock Motum – Motum is currently first in the conference in scoring with 18.1 points per game and also grabs 6.5 rebounds per contest. His 230-pound frame makes him very hard to push around down low and will give the Cougars’ an instant advantage.
Prediction: Washington State 64 – Oregon State 60
Game 2: USC – UCLA 5:30 PM ET
Player to Watch: G Maurice Jones, USC – With all the negative attention swirling around UCLA, it will be very hard for them focus enough to get a win. The Trojans’ are playing exceptionally well right now, especially behind the play of guard Maurice Jones. He may only be 5-foot-7, but the kid can has a beautiful jump shot and can flat out ball. If Jones can get hot early, then he can easily score over 20 points.
Prediction: USC 68 – UCLA 66
Game 3: Arizona St. – Stanford 9:00PM ET
Player to Watch: G Chasson Randle, Stanford – The freshman is leading Stanford with an impressive 13.1 points per contest. He is very dangerous once in the lane and will be very hard for the ASU to contain.
Prediction: Stanford 77 – Arizona St. 63
Game 4: Utah – Colorado 11:30 PM
Player to Watch: F Andre Robinson, Colorado – Robinson is one of the premier rebounders in the nation. He is posting 11.2 points and 11.2 rebounds a game and will keep the Utah forwards in foul trouble all afternoon.
Prediction: Colorado 64 – Utah 52
