In the past year, the Philadelphia 76ers have placed a lot of stock in Forward Lavoy Allen. Yet, it seems as though as much prowess as the young forward has is about to be put to waste behind the likes of Kwame Brown and Spencer Hawes in the Sixers’ frontcourt. However, among all of the changes around the Philadelphia rotation, Allen doesn’t seem to be worried about not starting going into training camp.

“You never know what can happen once training camp rolls around,” Allen said during an appearance for a basketball showcase at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Southern New Jersey on Saturday afternoon, “Coach says that now, but you never know what he’s thinking. He switched the lineup many times last year.”

The aforementioned quotes have never rang so true. Coach Doug Collins  has the knack of switching the rotation around on a Sixers’ roster more than once in a season. During the 2011-2012 NBA season, Collins’ starting 5 was constantly under repair. There were cases when guard Jodie Meeks was, at times, in the starting lineup for several games. There were also those times when we saw former Ohio State Buckeye, Evan Turner, don the 76ers strips starting out of the backcourt.

The former Temple Owl, claims he has been diligently working on improving his game going into training camp like the rest of his peers on the 76ers. There is also a distinct difference between Lavoy Allen of 2012 and Lavoy Allen of 2011. Allen comes into this season with a great deal of confidence as opposed to his rookie year. Allen was the 50th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and worked his way up to become a post-season starter. What’s there not to be confident about young Lavoy.

Allen averaged 4.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in the regular season, but during the playoffs as a starter, he averaged 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds. Coach Collins better get his ducks in a better row.
