Eagles Have A Tall Order In Beating The Bills
If any game on the Eagle’s schedule is a ‘must win’, this one is. The Eagles take on the Buffalo Bill at Ralph Wilson stadium this Sunday at 1pm. The Bills are off to a surprising 3-1 start. They are the little engine that could. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Bills are coming off a disappointing road loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Maybe the Bills were thinking ahead about their match-up with the Eagles.
The Bills put up big time points. Their offense is averaging a whopping 33+ points per game. They could score at will the way the Eagles are playing defense. The Eagles defense is butter to the Bills warm knife offense.
Do not expect the Eagles to, “all the sudden”, prevent the Bills from scoring. Ivy league graduate and Bill’s quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, is off to a sterling start. In four games Fitzpatrick has a 63.4 completion percentage, compiling 1040 passing yards with nine touchdowns against three interceptions. Fitzpatrick is playing like a franchise quarterback. His core receivers are a no- name bunch, however, they have size.
The Bills running attack is ranked fifth in the NFL. Bad news for the smallish, soft Eagles front seven. The Bills average 137 yards a game on the ground. Buffalo has a one-two punch with Fred Jackson and C.J.Spiller. Jackson is the bigger back that carries the load, while Spiller provides the explosiveness. Both back are averaging over 5.5 yards per carry.
The Bills defense is the weakness of the team. They rank 25th in passing yards with 275.5 yards per game. The Bill’s defense also generously allows 129.5 yards per game on the ground which equally ranks them 25th in the NFL.
On paper, this game looks like a shoot-out. Both offenses can score against each other. The Eagle’s confidence is at an all-time low. They are desperate for a win. Buffalo’s fans will be rocking at Ralph Wilson stadium. The town is Bill’s crazy. Buffalo is a city with terrific sports fans. Eagle’s fans will be watching hesistantly for a good reason…..we have Andy reid as head coach. For the Eagles, it is gut check time.
