According to Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow of 94 WIP, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb revealed that he was able to identify a number of the Eagles’ plays before they ran them during Sunday’s game.
Kolb was shouting out instructions to his defensive backs. During the week, he had worked with the Arizona defensive backs in practice.
“During the two-minute drill, you almost feel guilty,” Kolb said with a laugh. “Mike’s sitting there giving the signals, and I’m standing there on our sidelines, screaming at our corners, ‘Hey it’s a go ball, hey he’s running a screen, hey he’s running a slant.’”
Kolb later downgraded his ability to actually help the Cardinals but he did say that it was easy to yell out plays to the defensive backs on the final drive because the crowd level was pretty quiet.
Ironically, Kolb didn’t even play in the game because of turf toe. His backup, John Skelton, led the Cardinals to two long touchdown drives in the fourth quarter, including a game-winning five-yard touchdown pass to Early Doucet with fewer than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
For the Eagles, Vick completed just 16 of 34 passes for 128 yards and two interceptions. He also broke two ribs on the second play of the game, but did not tell anybody about the injury until after the game was over.
