Philadelphia Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha Nominated for Bart Starr Award
Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will not be winning the NFL Defensive Player award, following a disappointing season in which the $60 million man failed to even earn a Pro Bowl selection.
But the 30-year old cornerback has been nominated for the Bart Starr award, given to an NFL player each season who “best exemplifies outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community.”
Asomugha formed The Asomugha Foundation in 2005 to “have a positive impact on disadvantaged youth in the United States and the underprivileged orphans and widows in Africa through education and empowerment.”
More information about Asomugha’s charity work can be found on www.buildingtoday.org.
The winner of the award will be announced on Super Bowl Sunday (February 4) in Indianapolis. The other candidates are Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten and Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher.
