Philadelphia Eagles Work Out Former Buffalo Bills QB Trent Edwards; 2012 Backup?
The Philadelphia Eagles have worked out former Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards.
If signed, Edwards would replace Vince Young as the Eagles’ backup quarterback.
Edwards, 28, did not play in the NFL during the 2011 season. He was with the Oakland Raiders, as a member of their practice squad.
He spent the 2010 season with the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He made three starts and lost all three.
Edwards had originally been drafted in the third round by the Bills in 2007. He threw for 25 touchdowns and 27 interceptions in four years with Buffalo, leading the team to just 14 victories in 33 starts.
I don’t think Edwards will be signed as the Eagles’ backup quarterback in 2012. He was never a successful starter and didn’t throw a single pass in the 2011 season. Personally, I would rather bring back Vince Young than sign Edwards.
