ESPN’s NFL Insider John Clayton Says Philadelphia Eagles Look Like Dream Team
If you thought that the phrase “dream team” would only apply to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2011 season, think again. Backup quarterback Vince Young may be gone, but the dream team talk lives on. In fact, it may never die.
ESPN’s NFL Insider John Clayton was a guest on Mike & Mike on 97.5 The Fanatic a few days ago, and he uttered the phrase “dream team” when talking about the Eagles.
“I hate to bring up the word, but this really looks like a dream team,” Clayton said. “They really do look good. Michael Vick is in the best place that I’ve ever seen him, he’s studied this offseason more than he ever has before, and at some points Andy Reid actually had to kick him out because he was studying so much. He went back and looked at the Arizona game that was so disappointed for him and Andy. Vick said that he never wants to let that happen again.”
“You look at Nnamdi Asomugha and Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie both going back to playing man to man which they excel at,” Clayton said. “And a middle linebacker in DeMeco Ryans and this team really looks like a dream team. They look sensational.”
So if there are any expectations at all on the Eagles sneaking up on the rest of the league, just forget about it. Teams have circled the words “Philadelphia Eagles” on their schedule and they’re fully aware that the Eagles will be one of their toughest games of the season.
As for whether the Eagles ARE a dream team? Only time will tell.
