The Philadelphia Phillies were one of nine teams to show at the workouts of Yoenis Cespedes, reported MLB Trade Rumors. Cespedes is a 26-year old Cuban outfielder who has been called the best center fielder since Ken Griffey, Jr.
Cespedes hit .333 with a new league record 33 home runs this past season. He brings power, speed, and strong defense at the center field position.
The Phillies are among three teams that will have a private workout for Cespedes. Cespedes is expected to receive a $30 million deal, similar to what Aroldis Chapman received this past offseason.
The Phillies have Shane Victorino in center field for at least one more season before he hits the free agent market, but there have been reports that the team is trying to trade Victorino in part of a blockbuster deal.
