According to Oval Athletics’ Kristy Robinson, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Charlie Morton underwent surgery yesterday to repair a torn labrum in his left hip.
The surgery was successful, according to Robinson’s twitter.
Typical recovery time for this surgery is about six months.
“There is no specific injury date or cause of injury,” Robinson tweeted, “but the hip began to bother Charlie late during the 2011 season.”
The six-month recovery period puts Morton’s return around mid-April, about two weeks into the 2012 regular season.
