Don’t worry, Pirates fans. Our star closer will be back next season (unless something goes wrong in arbitration this offseason). In the meantime, Joel Hanrahan will lend his baseball mind and opinions to MLB Network for at least the next day.
Hanrahan made his MLB Network debut yesterday as a “guest analyst” during the Washington Rangers/Detroit Tigers battle in Game Two of the ALCS, and then again during the St. Louis Cardinals’ 12-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.
Overall, “The Hammer” looked – and sounded – like he knew what he was doing. Perhaps he’s lining something up for when his playing days are over?
Thankfully for the Pirates, that won’t be any time soon.
