When is Jameson Taillon Going To Be Called Up By the Pittsburgh Pirates?
Jameson Taillon is going to be one of the best pitchers in baseball. The Pittsburgh Pirates struck gold with the high schooler out of Texas because Taillon is going to just get better and better.
Taillon throws 100 mph with a nasty breaking ball. That’s all you need right? The question is: when is the Pittsburgh Pirates going to bring Taillon up to the big leagues?
I don’t want to get too excited because I have him in 2 fantasy keeper leaguers, and I traded him in another as part of a big deal, but I can’t wait. I don’t think he’s ready today, and he probably won’t be ready tomorrow. In September, I think it would be wise for the Pirates to take a look at him for a start or two. Nothing huge, just see how he reacts to the spotlight. See how he adjusts to Major League hitters. Just give him 4 or 5 innings just to get his feet with because I think that’s going to be huge for his development, and give the Pittsburgh fans something to be excited over.
I don’t think the Pirates are far away from being incredible. Guys like Taillon are going to bring a talent that Pittsburgh hasn’t had in a long time. It’s a matter of when, not if, and I think the Pirates should be aggressive with their talent. If they’re ready- there’s no reason to wait. Let’s see what they have in Taillon before the end of 2012, and start building for 2013 with a VERY realistic chance of winning the division in 2014 and 2015.
