Troy Polamalu, Maurkice Pouncey Selected to Pro Football Writers All-NFL Team
Two members of the Pittsburgh Steelers have something to be proud of this season after-all. Troy Polamalu and Maurkice Pouncey were selected to the Pro Football Writers All-NFL team.
The Pro Football Writers Association have been selecting their All-NFL team since 1966. It is officially released in Pro Football Weekly yearly.
Despite missing two games late in the season and battling injuries all year, Pouncey was selected because of his dominance at the center position. In only his second season, he is arguably the best center in the league. Pouncey played a huge role on a Steelers line that allowed 40 sacks by opponents this season. This is Pouncey’s first selection to the All-NFL team.
Pouncey recently had surgery on his badly sprained ankle. There is no timetable on his return, but he is expected to be ready for the team’s OTAs this off-season. It is pivotal for the well-being of the offense that he returns to full strength as soon as possible so he can improve on his skills. More importantly, to stay healthy for the entire 2012 season.
Troy Polamulu is adding yet another recognition to his already impressive resume. This is the third time that Polamulu was selected by the football writers to their All-NFL first team. Polamalu will also be making his 7th appearance in the Pro Bowl, and the 6th time he will be starting in the all-star event. He ranked third on the team with 90 tackles. Poucney will also be joining Polamalu in the Pro-Bowl, making his 2nd appearance in as many seasons.

Watch out. I’m going to have a lot of damage to do during the Pro Bowl to make up for not getting the rest of the playoffs out of my system.
