Pittsburgh Steelers Running Back Coach Remains in Critical Condition
Pittsburgh Steelers running back coach Kirby Wilson remains in critical condition after suffering burns in a house fire. Wilson suffered burns to over 45 percent of his body after a fire broke out in is kitchen on January 6. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. He also suffered smoke inhalation injuries from the incident, which will require surgery in the near future.
Wilson was recently air-lifted to UMPC Mercy in Pittsburgh so he can be monitored by their Trauma Burn Center. Wilson’s family issued this statement on Tuesday:
“Mr. Kirby Wilson remains in critical condition in the Trauma Burn Center at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. In addition to burns sustained over 45 percent of his body, he has suffered a smoke inhalation injury and will require multiple operative procedures in the future.”
Wilson is in his 5th year with the Steelers. He is known by many players as a man who always has a smile on his face and who is an assiduous worker. He faces a long road of recovery in the coming months. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope the best for him in the future.
