The SEC Had Best Watch out for LB Reggie Chevis

Reggie Chevis, Texas A&M commit, is a special talent and gifted linebacker out of Sharpstown (Houston, Texas). Although he’s started to get noticed by high school football fans across the country, it wasn’t always easy to go unnoticed.

Every star athlete has a defining moment in his or her life and Chevis had his last January.

“It was when I got invited to the All-American combine in San Antonio this past January. I was named to the top performers list there and turned a lot of heads. I was going hard the whole time. After that I was on the map. I got my first offer from Boise State and it just picked up from there,” says Chevis.

Offers started rolling in soon after Chevis started to impress coaches across the country. The 6’2, 235 lbs star received interest from many top schools including: Arizona, Arizona state, Arkansas, Baylor, Boise State, California, Colorado, Houston, Illinois, Iowa State and LSU.

After carefully looking through his options, Chevis decided to commit to Texas A&M on December 12, 2012.

Although the Houston native found success in football, it wasn’t easy for the star at first. He came into his first camp with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove to the world.

“I was ready. I had a big chip on my shoulder. No one had really heard about me and I didn’t like that. I felt like I had to prove so much and there was no way I wasn’t gonna prove it,” says Chevis.

I’m really looking forward for Chevis to hit Texas A&M’s football field next season. He’s a hard worker and has a motor that will take him very far at the college level and hopefully in the pros.
