While watching Raw on Monday I actually found myself enjoying a tag team match. Watching Kofi Kingston and Evan “Air” Bourne defeat David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty I saw team work and nice complimentary moves by both teams. This is a rare site in the WWE. It made me wonder if the team of “Kingston-Air” could start the rebirth of the tag division.
The old Nexus guys are fine as the belt holders right now but they need some other teams to feud with. The problem is the WWE doesn’t usually leave these mixed teams together for too long. Kofi is in the middle of a non push and Evan Bourne is either being matched up with random tag partners or getting squashed by bigger stars. So why not let these two tag for the next year or two and revive this lost art.
Sure they aren’t the perfect team. They both can fly but they are also both weak on the mic. That’s OK though. The Hardys were never very good on the mic either. You just need to feud them with teams that can make up for their lack of mic skills. This would mean the WWE would need to get to work and put together a couple more good tag teams. Zach Ryder and Santino Marella or Primo and JTG anyone?
Maybe I am just rambling but I really miss the old days with great tag teams.
