When I was watching RAW last night I found myself annoyed when Bret “the Hitman” Hart came out to have words with Alberto Del Rio. RAW was not in his hometown. Bret was not called out on air the week before. He is no longer an active manager in the WWE. So I asked aloud, “why is Bret Hart at RAW?”. Isn’t this kind of thing why most wrestling fans don’t respect TNA? Too many wrestlers who are supposed to still be able to compete on a moments notice even though they are older and out of shape opposed to the 20 something ripped superstar who is now going to have to sell that they can’t beat this elderly wrestler.
First I want to say that I personally enjoy Bret Hart. I enjoyed him in the 80′s when he was at his peak and I loved when he and Vince made nice and Hart returned for his match against Vince. The problem is Bret no longer has a reason to be at the show. He isn’t a wrestler or the GM. So why is he there? At least they gave Nash a storyline.
Come on WWE, just having Bret back stage is lazy writing. If we are going to have to watch a past it wrestler do his thing can we please have a good reason why he was at RAW? There are plenty of other good wrestlers backstage that are dying for some air time. I would much rather have seen Zack Ryder team with John Cena. So if you are going to use Bret Hart please give him a reason to be there. Otherwise you are making that TNA mistake thinking that us wrestling fans care about guys past their prime getting in the ring. Please know we cheer out of respect and cause we love not because we know that old superstar is going to bring the house down with an amazing match.
Seems to me the WWE writing has gone down hill lately or they are all just trying to write for the Punk and HHH storyline letting everything else fend for itself. These other storylines aren’t hard to write for or need much attention at all. Just give those lines some life so I care about them as much as I care about H vs Punk.
