Wrestling fans love to speculate what is going to happen next. Despite most fans saying they love a true surprise, they still try to forecast what the next feud will be.
The Rock made a surprise return this week to take out Russian superstar Rusev and make one of his famous promos on his valet Lana. Then, fans saw on Smackdown’s 15th anniversary show a backstage segment where it seemed like Rock had some longstanding heat with his former rival Triple H.
As how things seem to go in the online wrestling community, now fans think that will be the next Wrestlemania match for the two. That seems very unlikely.
For one, it would be a pointless match. These two stars wrestle so little, every match needs to mean something. Especially for Triple H, who is playing to role of company leader. We see him on TV every week. We only see the Rock ten times per year at most. It would make much more sense to have The Game take one an up-and-coming face superstar like Dean Ambrose, similar to what he did with Daniel Bryan last year.
As far as the Rock, he will almost immediately be in the main event. He needs to do a match we have never seen yet. This is what is great about returning superstars, we can have real-life fantasy booking. We could have Rock face Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton or even get a finish to the Rusev rivalry. You don’t use one of Hollywood’s biggest stars for a match that everyone can see on the WWE Network for only $9.99.
This kind of rumor looks to be a calculated swerve by the WWE. Maybe this was their way of making it hard for the IWC to sniff out what the writers really want to do with these two legends come Wrestlemania season. Either way, these two will not be facing off at the biggest stage in wrestling.
